FAQ
Do I need an account?
No. You can use Shloop right away without one — your notes, places, and photos are saved on your device. Signing in is optional. It adds cloud sync and backup across devices, recovery after reinstalling, and account-only features like recommendations and a wishlist.
Where is my data stored?
Without an account, your notes, places, and photos stay on your device. When you sign in, they're stored and processed through Shloop's servers so they can sync and back up. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Is my data encrypted?
Yes. Your notes are encrypted on your device, and sensitive details — note text, places, and photos — are encrypted before they're stored on our servers. It isn't full end-to-end encryption, but your private content isn't kept as plain text. See the Privacy Policy for details.
How do recommendations work?
When you're signed in, Shloop suggests drinks based on your saved beer, wine, and whiskey notes — your scores, favorites, and recent notes shape the results. If you don't see recommendations yet, you may need a few more rated notes, or you may have used up your refreshes for now.
How does backup & restore work?
You can export your notes, places, and wishlist to a backup file and restore them later. When you're signed in, your data is also backed up to your account, so you can recover it on a new device or after reinstalling.
Why does the app show ads?
Shloop shows ads through providers like Google AdMob to support development, and some recommendation refreshes use rewarded ads. What you see can depend on your region and settings.
Is there an age requirement?
Yes. Shloop is not directed to children. You must meet the app marketplace age rating and the legal drinking age in your jurisdiction, whichever is stricter.
